Nanaimo Bars Recipe
A classic Canadian dessert with layers of chocolate, custard, and coconut-graham crust.

Base Layer
- ½ cup unsalted butter melted
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
Custard Layer
- ½ cup unsalted butter softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons vanilla custard powder
- 3 tablespoons milk
Top Layer
- 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chopped
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1. In a saucepan, melt butter, sugar, and cocoa powder over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, coconut, and graham cracker crumbs. Press mixture into the bottom of a 9x9 inch pan.
2. For the custard layer, cream together butter, powdered sugar, custard powder, and milk until smooth. Spread over the base layer.
3. Melt chocolate and butter together. Let cool slightly, then pour over the custard layer. Refrigerate until set. Cut into bars and serve.
